What exactly does my donation support? How is the center helping others during the stay-at-home order by the governor? There are so many places asking me for money, why should I donate to Full Circle? What makes your services ‘necessary’?
These are all valid questions. And we’re here to answer them.
What exactly does my donation support?
Donations are the only way Full Circle is able to support grieving children, adults, and families. And the current COVID-19 pandemic makes grief even more painful in nearly every situation. Your donation supports our clients who are struggling with grief from personal loss and from the sense of loss we’re all experiencing because of today’s COVID-19 crisis.
Examples of how your donation supports grieving individuals includes services delivered by:
- A professional’s outreach to a child who is grieving the loss of a parent, compounded by the loss of connections at school and other social connections due to COVID-19.
- A social worker in a virtual counseling session with a Suicide Loss Group participant. These individuals desperately need guidance, support, and connection as they continue to grieve the loss of a loved one by suicide.
- A program manager reaching out to past and current group members asking — “How can I best support you in your grief? What do you need?”
- A therapist counseling and listening to clients each week via Telehealth because social distancing makes them feel scared and isolated.
How is the center operating during the stay-at-home order by the governor?
We’re adapting our business model to align with the global crisis of COVID-19. Our professional, clinical staff is fully trained on tele-health communication and are using various virtual platforms to continue providing services to those in our community who need it most.
We continue to:
- prepare and conduct spring groups (virtually) and plan for summer groups
- meet with current counseling clients virtually each week
- register NEW clients for programs and counseling services
- expand our programs and services to include underserved areas in the state of Virginia
- provide outreach and helpful resources to past and current participants
- collaborate with community partners on ways to support them during this crisis
- provide educational resources about grief, loss, and challenges resulting from COVID-19
Our counselors and therapists, group leaders, and operations staff are all working diligently to serve our community. We connect with those who feel the heavy burden of isolation during their grief, and adapt our business model regularly as we serve our community in its greatest time of need.
Why should I donate to Full Circle?
Honestly, this is a hard one because there are so many worthy causes in our community asking for help. We would ask that you consider donating to us so we can continue offering essential grief support programs and services to the RVA community. We, like many other small businesses and non-profits, are locally owned and fill a much-needed gap right here in our local community.
We receive NO government funding and rely solely on our community partnerships and donors like you. Our goal is to keep our full-time staff, part-time staff, therapists, and counselors working consistently with our clients as we stay true to our mission, to meet the current and future needs in our community, and to serve the RVA community to the best of our ability.
Why do you consider your services “necessary”?
Grief is a heavy burden for many. And yes, our services may seem like a “nice to have” to some – until it’s you or someone you love who needs it.
Full Circle’s grief counseling and support services go beyond traditional grief support. We know that grief has a beginning but it rarely has an end – it simply evolves and we learn to cope and adapt to a new way of life. That’s why our services are “necessary” – many people find it difficult to manage their grief in a way that allows them to move forward and fully function in their everyday life.
Our professional staff and clinicians are trained and experienced in helping others navigate this challenging experience in a way that gives them hope and a future.
We know that everyone is pulled in many directions for financial giving. We want to see our entire RVA community come out of this crisis with strength and resilience. And we believe our services are necessary to help us accomplish that goal. That makes donations even more critical now than ever before.
We fully strive to serve the community, adapt our business model with the ever-changing environment, and connect with those who need us most – when they need us most. Your donation goes a long way in helping us reach those goals.
