Welcome to Family Fridays — a 10-week series designed to give parents and children fun, meaningful activities you can do at home to explore feelings of grief and remember your loved one in unique ways.
This family activity helps kids to identify coping strategies to support them in their feelings of grief. Practice your paper folding skills AND your coping skills!
The best part is all you need for this project is paper and drawing tools!
Create a fortune teller out of one sheet of paper. You can find directions on how to fold the paper here: https://www.wikihow.com/Fold-a-Fortune-Teller.
Decorate your coping catcher any way that you want! In the middle, instead of writing fortunes, write coping skills that help you when you have “big feelings” about missing your special person who died. Some coping skills can include: ask for a hug, play your favorite song and have a dance party, take 5 deep breaths, watch a funny vidoe, or call a friend.
Try out your coping catcher with someone in your family and practice the coping skill you choose together.
Full Circle is committed to our community and in our continued effort to serve, adapt, and connect with our participants (past, current, and future).
We’d love to see your Family Friday activity! Please share photos on Facebook or Instagram or send your a photo of your Family Friday project to HOHgroups@fullcirclegc.org.
